Your Role:

As a Toddler Teacher at Lily of the Valley, you will play a vital role in shaping the future of our students. You will design and implement engaging activities that promote social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development while creating a nurturing and stimulating environment where every child can thrive.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the overall supervision and daily class functions of children ages 18 months to 36 months.
  • Assess each child’s developmental needs on an ongoing basis.
  • Assist with potty training for children ages 2–3 years.
  • Implement daily lesson plans aligned with the school curriculum.
  • Greet children and families warmly upon arrival.
  • Plan and implement developmentally appropriate indoor and outdoor activities.
  • Conduct parent-teacher conferences to discuss child assessments and progress.
  • Maintain an inviting, organized, and well-kept classroom that encourages creativity, exploration, and confident decision-making.
  • Provide verbal recognition and positive reinforcement while maintaining clear and consistent behavioral expectations.
  • Take responsibility for classroom maintenance and housekeeping duties, as well as care of common areas and playgrounds.
  • Attend all required staff meetings, in-service trainings, and school functions.
  • Demonstrate willingness to assist in all areas of the preschool as directed by the Director and based on center needs.
  • Monitor and assess children’s progress and development.
  • Plan, execute, and implement the Lily of the Valley School curriculum.
  • Must change diapers.

Qualifications:

Required 12 ECE units in core classes in addition to Infant/Toddler course listed below:

1. Infant/Toddler Development

2. Introduction to Early Childhood or Principles and Practices in ECE

3. Child, Family & Community

4. Practicum

5. Child Growth & Development or Human Growth and Development

  • Child Development Associate Certification (Preferred)
  • CPR and First Aid Certification or willingness to obtain
  • Required one year experience in a licensed preschool
  • Knowledge of the social, emotional, and creative needs of young children
  • Solid interpersonal skills working in a team environment
  • A love for children and a strong desire to make a difference every day
  • Ability to build relationships with families and coworkers and create a dynamic environment where play and learning happens
  • Outstanding customer service skills, strong organizational skills, and the ability to multi-task and manage multiple situations effectively
  • Must be physically able to lift a minimum of 40 pounds and work indoors or outdoors. Must be able to assume postures in low levels to allow physical and visual contact with children, see and hear well enough to keep children safe, and engage in physical activity with children
  • Ability to speak, read, and write English

Pay: $22.00 – $25.00 per hour
