About Us

Our Story

Lily of the Valley Schools (LOVS) was founded by Marvel and Pooja Philip, two parents who are deeply passionate about early education, children development and the community we live in. Their shared vision of providing holistic, quality education and care led them to create a space where students can learn and grow in a positive and enriching environment.

Our story begins with Marvel’s childhood, growing up in India with a single mother who made tremendous sacrifices to invest in her children’s education and wellbeing. This was a difficult time as Marvel’s father passed away when Marvel was 3 years old, but Marvel firmly believes that his mother’s pursuit of quality teaching was the spark that gave him and his family new life and hope for the future.

Over the next few decades, Marvel studied to become a trained Physical Therapist, and moved to the United States of America. After many years of working in education, he founded EdTheory, a California Department of Education Certified Non-Public Agency serving over 25,000 students with special needs across California, Nevada, and Washington. With this momentum, Marvel and Pooja built a thriving education network of teachers, certified professionals, and non-profit organizations with a shared vision in advancing young children’s curriculum.

Marvel and Pooja moved from the South Bay to the Tri-Valley Livermore and recognized the increasing need for children afte to gain access to a well-rounded early learning program that supports their social, emotional, intellectual, and spiritual development after the birth of their son. Marvel was immediately reminded of his childhood and his mother’s life-changing decision to pursue quality teaching. In January 2023, Marvel and Pooja chartered LOVS to activate and multiply that joy, wonder, and inspiration for learning in our community.

Marvel’s mother passed away in 2022 but her legacy of quality teaching and care for children lives on. Our passion to lift up and serve our community is evident in everything we do. Together, in partnership with Cornerstone Fellowship Church, our highly experienced teachers, preschool directors, business leaders, and parents, LOVS strives to be a beacon of hope for families seeking a brighter future for their children.
